Win rate measures how often a hero wins across all matches in the selected bracket — it reflects a hero's effectiveness when played correctly, independent of how popular they are. Pick rate measures how frequently a hero appears in matches, which is driven by player confidence, patch trends, and pub perception rather than pure strength. The scatter plot maps every hero across both axes at once, revealing four distinct quadrants: Hidden Gems sit in the top-left (high win rate, low pick rate) and represent undervalued heroes that win more than players expect; Meta Picks occupy the top-right (high win rate, high pick rate) and are the consensus strong choices in the current patch; Overhyped heroes cluster in the bottom-right (low win rate, high pick rate), meaning they are popular but underperforming; Off Meta heroes sit bottom-left and are rarely played and rarely successful. DOTApulse defaults to the Divine/Immortal bracket because high-rank players play position-faithful Dota — carries farm, supports support, and drafts reflect intentional choices. This produces cleaner, more signal-rich data than aggregating across all MMRs, where role confusion inflates or deflates hero statistics in misleading ways.
